Are You Dreaming?

Did you ever wonder if the things you thought you knew were far from the truth and the things you thought were make-believe were real?

What if (as Einstein theorized) the world only exists due to our observation of it; and as a result everything that feels "real" and "solid" is merely our perception of our current experience. Could that be why Jesus told us that if we said "Mountain be thou removed into the sea" and truly believed it in our hearts it would happen? Is that why He had such command over nature? Because HE, being God made flesh understood the true nature of reality -- that it is what we make it to be -- really and truly?

How would you know if you were dreaming? When you're asleep and dreaming you think it's real until you awake, yes? Is death merely our awakening from the "dream" our spirits experience? When you dream, and you realize it's a dream, you can do anything; fly, breathe under water, whatever. There are amazing implications about our abilities in our "reality" here.

I Love Trees

I love trees. For the last nine years I've lived in new neighborhoods with no real trees, just those little baby trees. All the parks we go to happen to be in those new neighborhoods with no real trees. Why on earth developers mow down all the good trees just to plant new little ones is beyond me -- money probably.

Anyway, yesterday we had a lunch at our 'new' church. I took the boys out back to play in the playground and completely lost track of time. The "backyard" of the church is full of big shady trees; I sat underneath this huge tree in complete serenity.

To me, there is nothing more peaceful or spiritual than sitting underneath a tree, listening to the birds housed by its branches or the wind blowing through the leaves.

With trees everything is cooler, shadier, the air is even sweeter.

*sigh* I need some trees.

Hypocritical Christians?

I'm a huge fan of Jason Mraz; I think he's an amazing lyricist and has a fantastic voice. In addition, he keeps a rather interesting myspace blog. I was reading some of his entries and came across something interesting. He was home for Christmas and was attending church with his family and had this to say:

"To make me feel better I decided to spend more time at Church. If anywhere, Church should have it together. And they do. I applaud the local church for organizing an extensive homeless shelter in the gym and taking donations of every kind to use for various missions. After all, the Christ hero spent all his time dealing with the sick and the poor, something our Christian nation and current administration could use a refresher course in.....

Still, just after Church, I heard enough gossip to be turned off by some of the congregation. Do people go to Church so much they forget why they are there? Do people assume their inner connection with some divine spirit makes it OK to blast off and be selfish again immediately?

People are strange."

Just reminds me that we need to be careful of the way we behave. We ARE the Jesus that people see. At least, we are supposed to be.
